Job Title: Director of Institutional Research
 Institution: University of Detroit Mercy, MI
 Job Duties:


The Director of Institutional Research will lead and manage a comprehensive institutional research program that supports the University of Detroit Mercy’s mission, traditions, values and strategic initiatives.  The Director provides the University of Detroit Mercy with strong, experienced collegial leadership in the development and administration of effective practices for institutional research, information retrieval, and data analyses that move the University forward as an evidence-based institution.  S/he facilitates the availability of relevant data for use in internal university-wide planning and decision-making and ensures compliance with state and federal reporting obligations and accreditation requirements.  The Director oversees academic data integrity, quality assurance, and common data definitions and ensures that institutional data collection and reporting processes are reliable, valid, and ethical.


The Director collects, prepares, disseminates and maintains statistical data and periodic reports related to enrollment, matriculation, assessment, evaluation, demographics, student success indicators, faculty workload, benchmarking and other related measures to support strategic planning, resource allocation, recruitment and retention, internal and external use and distribution.

The Director serves as IPEDS key holder by overseeing the completion of IPEDS surveys, ensuring the accuracy of data submitted, and by using IPEDS reporting tools to retrieve comparable data for benchmarking purposes

The Director also serves as the Accreditation Liaison Office (ALO) to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association.

The Director coordinates the schedule and administration of standardized surveys such as NSSE, the CIRP Freshman Survey and the HERI Faculty Survey.

The Director supplies data to the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU), the Conference on Mercy Higher Education (CMHE), and other organizations, as well as to external surveys.         

Qualifications:
The 
Required qualifications include a master’s degree with graduate-level coursework in a quantitatively-oriented field such as statistics, education, psychology, social sciences, etc.  Ph.D. desirable.  At least five years’ experience in institutional research.

 Job Duties:
The Director of Institutional Research will establish and provide direction and leadership for the university’s institutional research associated with student success and institutional effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Required must have experience in institutional research and planning, especially with student outcomes models. Must demonstrate high level skills in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis including the capacity to manipulate large data sets. Must have expertise in designing and producing data-driven reports. Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills with both experts and beginners at technology. Must evidence a collaborative work style and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must have at least a master’s degree in a relevant field.

Job Title: Executive Director - Institutional Research & Planning
  Institution:  Central Michigan University, MI

 Job Duties:


 Directs the institutional research program, directed primarily at research about

prospective students, students, graduates, academic programs and student services; determines, after consultation with the Provost and senior academic administrators, the institutional research agenda for each year develops and promotes university data warehouse; gathers, analyzes and interprets data for reports; acts as primary author of selected major reports (includes retention and graduation rates, characteristics of applicants, admitted students, and enrollees; factors affecting academic success of students; departmental data profiles). Prepares the annual enrollment projections, used for both internal and external (state level)planning). Coordinates, collects and transmits data to state and federal agencies, including the IPEDS reports; assists campus units in assessment activities; directs the preparation of inter-institutional comparative studies; provides university information to outside groups such as college guide publishers and professional academic organizations; serves as a support person for other university staff who are conducting institutional research; supervises the Institutional Research staff;  serves on the Analytical Studies Committee of the state-wide President’s Council of State Universities.

 Qualifications:     Required qualifications include master’s degree and five years of successful experience in higher education administration including institutional research, or equivalent combination of education and experience; demonstrated knowledge of and experience with statistical techniques, data bases, report preparation, and research design; experience with evaluation research; empirical research skills; knowledge of higher education issues; excellent verbal and written communication skills; successful supervisory experience. Desired qualifications include earned doctorate.
